Mi Mi Mi

Hola, Mi llamo Rafael, yo tengo 16 años, Im from the United states or at least I was Born there, I spent 6 years in my home town in Virginia before I travelled overseas to England where my Father served in The Air Force. After living In England For 4 years I moved back to the USA where I attended a Christian Co-ed school, which was awful and it eventually got pretty bad so I switch schools. The Second school I attended ways a private all boys school and because the majority of people came from the 1% of America racism was very common and not many actions were taken to prevent or teach people about Co-existence. This Affected me in a peculiar way do to the fact I was partially Mexican so I was poked fun at for that which upset me a lot the first year however I eventually just didn’t care and got used to somewhat racist tendencies (mostly based around jokes and comedy). After three years in that school I moved to Abu Dhabi, a huge change from the cold northern states I was used to living in. The first two weeks of me being in Abu Dhabi thankfully didn’t set the scene for the rest of my stay, because I went from having a sinus infection and choking down huge Anti-biotic pills to vomiting a my guts out after getting food poisoning. Around that time I think I really developed a great animosity for Abu Dhabi based upon my short but grueling time there. However all that changed when I finally started going to school, The wonderful ‘simple’ IB system in which you are graded from 0-7 in which a 5 is almost equal to getting an 85% in the American system. I still dislike the grading system however I do have to admit I don’t make it any easier for myself by being extremely lazy and procrastinating on everything. I am Currently working on that so fingers crossed I will finally kick this lazy Gene. In my more current years I have pondered more things and a Major topic is why things are the way they are and what caused them to be that specific way and how languages like English could be widely different if one event doesn’t occur.
Like how would English change if Rome never fell and stayed in the UK. At first thought one would say that English might not even exist or if it did it wouldn’t be primarily based on a Franco-German Pedigree, And if that was the case would English be the Cancerous Language that it is. Many of you might be perplexed or even dumbfounded by why I could compare a language to cancerous, So allow me explain, If you Imagine all the languages as body party or organs then you will began to understand how English one spreads far beyond it organs and rapidly in comparison to the growth of other languages. It two consumes and adapts to other areas constantly editing itself to grow more and more like cancer. Lastly Three English comes from a hole bunch of stuff that gets mixed up and mutated to become itself and then goes of changing more and more of the environment around it to be like or similar to itself. Hopefully I explained it well enough to get my point across of how English is like a tumorous growth but shouldn’t have all the negative connotations of cancer brought with it.

I also Like Making everything into bullet points because it makes everything easier for my brain to comprehend.

  1. This was well explained. i have had similar experiences having grown up in the caribbean where my sister and I were the only white children in the entire school. this caused a lot of racism and after the first year i learnt the same way as you to just ignore them.

  4. This was a very engaging introductory post. I'm glad that you've ended up at Raha where you can learn in a more inclusive and caring community.

I also like the extended metaphor of how language can be cancerous. This demonstrated a unique perspective of language. Moving forward, it is important that you focus on expressing yourself using polished language. Although your diction does not need to be entirely formal, treat these blogs as an opportunity to practice accurate grammar and punctuation. It will be to your benefit when writing exams under timed conditions. Glad to have you back in my class Rafael!
